PR Account Executive
A PR Account Executive acts as the day to day contact for the clients regarding their public relations activity. They will ensure work is delivered to the client on time and addresses any questions and issues as and when they occur.
The role will also involve press release writing and then selling those stories in to the right trade, regional and/or national press. The PR Account Executive will then collate all media coverage to present reports back to the client. They might also negotiate with any third party photographers or event suppliers on costings and promotional equipment related to the campaign.
To be considered for this role, excellent writing is an absolute must. It’s a fast paced role with regular contact with the media so prior experience even in the form of an internship is preferable. Either way PR Account Executives need to be confident and proactive. The role does have a creative streak in how you adapt your tone of voice to the client’s audience so it is key to be able to adapt and understand what each account requires.
Candidates looking to get into PR and communications tend to favour the agency route in the early stages of their career to gain a broad level of experience. Although some agencies will specialise in consumer or b2b (business to business) PR, generally most regional agencies have a mix of clients.
Salary wise outside of London the role generally pays between £18,000 to £22,000 depending on regional variance and level of experience.
