Yorkshire
Boasting a population as big as Scotland's and covering an area over half the size of Belgium, Yorkshire is pretty much a country in itself. With its own flag, famed dialect and its very own annual celebration day, Yorkshire Day (1st August), Yorkshire’s populace are a patriotic folk and claim to be natives of 'God's Own County'. It is a special region: the landscape of mysterious moors, rolling green dales that meet a dramatic coastline, Yorkshire has some of Britain's finest scenery. This is bolstered by its epic history, for each and every facet of British heritage has representation here, from the time of Romans to the 20th century. However Yorkshire's greatest appeal is most certainly its people: industrious and forthright, their wit is renowned and their friendliness talked of across the globe.
