An incredible opportunity has arisen to join one of Birmingham’s most iconic and well-loved destinations, located right in the heart of the city centre. Renowned for its rich history, instantly recognisable look, and standout customer experience, this is truly a dream role for a consumer marketer.

The Role:

As Marketing & Placemaking Manager, you’ll take full ownership of the local marketing strategy for this flagship destination. You’ll be responsible for developing and delivering annual marketing plans, creating high-impact campaigns, driving footfall, boosting engagement, and bringing the consumer experience to life.

You’ll lead on conceptualising events that deliver clear ROI, working closely with brands, partners, and key stakeholders to create compelling, creative, and memorable activations. Supported by a centralised marketing team and long-standing agency relationships, you’ll have the tools and backing to deliver at pace.

This role isn’t just about big ideas. You’ll also apply strong commercial thinking—managing a significant budget, ensuring operational alignment, engaging tenants, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

To be considered, you’ll need:

  • Strong marketing, PR, and digital experience. While agencies will support execution, you’ll be responsible for orchestration, so a detailed understanding of how channels work and the best one to use.
  • Think digital first – online engagement and channels are a core part of the role, from social and content to CRM and website management.
  • Excellent organisational skills. This is a fast-paced role with many moving parts, including multiple partners, suppliers, departments, and tenants.
  • Proven experience managing and allocating budgets.
  • Experience in consumer or destination marketing (highly desirable).

Our client is seeking a creative, commercially minded individual who can hit the ground running. You’ll be confident leading a dynamic marketing plan, nurturing relationships, galvanising teams, and inspiring standout ideas in a fast-paced environment.

The role spans three core pillars — brand, digital, and place — and you’ll need to be equally comfortable across all three. You’ll be confident in your ability to lead, capable of taking charge, working autonomously, and becoming the go-to person for all things marketing at the destination.
